Today, the global hotel business is undergoing global change, from a hotel operator to a major travel participant. It often becomes the center of the community by providing municipal services. The lobbies of modern hotels are increasingly becoming a gathering place for citizens, where they can organize business meetings, talk with friends, dine or get the latest news.
In recent years, completely new requirements for the construction and design of hotels have begun to appear. The modern hotel is an energy efficient building with serious environmental components, a spacious lobby designed to provide informal communication between guests. What is the priority for a tourist, or just a businessman? You may be surprised, but the main thing today is emotions. And providing them is the primary task of the hotel. Interesting to know that the AccorHotels chain in some cases even gave up the reception area to break the barrier between the hotel representative and the "customer". Today, the hotel should not only serve its main purpose, but also be a place of communication, gatherings, well-integrated in society. This is what hotel specialists think.
Now the hotel is not only a place for short-term rest, but also a full and multifunctional complex of life, work, communication and business meetings. It is well known that many professionals, such as programmers, can work where they feel comfortable if they have a phone or tablet with themselves, and, of course, fast internet. In the 21st century, hotel visitors are interested in communicating with their like-minded people, the maximum number of services and easy access to them. To solve this really difficult problem, the hotel management is acting in several directions at once. One of them is the provision of a flexible environment, which can be customized or changed at any time, according to customer requirements. This kind of approach allows to satisfy the preferences of different guests. Silent areas are designed for relaxation, lounge areas and cafes for informal and friendly meetings, small halls for presentations and business meetings. Hotel operators have already realized that the classic hotel has a lot of areas that are less used and a lot of money is spent on their maintenance. Lighting, ventilation system, cleanup. All this requires a lot of money. That is why they decided to solve the problem by using the lobby as a relaxation zone for guests. This idea has been successfully implemented, for example by PentaHotels. So entering the hotel, the guest immediately appears in the bar, where they are given the keys to the room, the WiFi code, and if desired, they are treated with a cocktail. Billiard tables can be set up in the public areas of these hotels, DJs often perform there, and snacks are served throughout the day.
WeWork, the famous developing coworking network, has launched its new product, WeLive, on Wall Street in New York. It's actually a Coliving project, a flatshare plan to live together. The project is located in the same building where the company's main product- coworking. The new initiative of ACCOR Local is that the reception, in cooperation with medium-sized businesses nearby, will be used by people living in the surrounding area - dry cleaning, shop, restaurant, car rental, beauty salon, etc. The project is still under review, but the idea is clear: the world wants to step back from technological developments and return to the universal values and frameworks where the neighbors and community had their significance and role.
