Did you know that the name Haghartsin came from an interesting tradition, when an eagle soared on the dome of the main church at the opening of the monastery, and thus it became known as the playing eagle monastery («Hagh» - play and «artsin» - eagle). A few kilometers away from Haghartsin is the village of Teghut, where Artrashes I (189 – 160 BC) left 2 border stones in Aramaic.
